Kanae Nozawa first had a chance to touch the erhu (Chinese stringed instrument) as an actress performing the role of an erhu player in a theatre drama. This encounter became fateful, as Nozawa got so fascinated by the nature of the instrument that she decided to start her successful artistic career as an erhu player. Since then, her characteristic tone has touched the hearts of countless listeners with its poetic inspiration. In January 2007, Nozawa released her debut album from a major record company as the very first erhu player in Japan. Her performance has often been commended as resembling human singing. In addition, her exquisite songwriting ability with full of originality, and highly attractive stage performances have been rated highly and have attracted global popularity across different generations. Her splendid singing emphasizes her presence strongly as well. Not only in Japan, but also in Taiwan in 2009, Shanghai in 2010, and in Finland, where she has held four concerts since 2018, and successfully performed in four cities on 2024 tour. She gets many comments from the audience that it was the most beautiful concert they have ever heard. Her fifth original album "Planet" was produced by the Japanese Academy Award-winning composer Tamiya Terashima. On this album, Nozawa also collaborated with the world-famous bagpipe player, Carlos Nunez, and Finnish composer Niko Pihlaja, who wrote an original song exclusively for this album. Also during recent years, Nozawa has been successfully and intensively creating opportunities for collaboration with overseas artists
and broadening new horizons in the world of international music.
